This morning I carefully scratched two tablespoons of 6-3-3 Down To Earth citrus fertilizer into the top of the lemon tree pot. I watered it in with half a tablespoon of Epsom Salt to the gallon. I let the water drain through and out the bottom completely, then watered again. It was about 1/2 of a gallon in total. I spread the rest across some potato plants.
I also sprayed most of the plants in pots with insecticidal soap. This was part of the plan for the potatoes and beans due to the spotting on the leaves, which could be mites. There have been a lot of gnats around everything lately, so I sprayed a lot of things in containers, hoping it will dampen the population.
I’m very glad to see that the compost pile is back up to 100°F by mid-day, up 10°F degrees after yesterday’s additions and turning.
I started a new tray of seeds today including lettuce and onions, this time using cleaned and sifted coco coir mix from recent grow-bag endeavours. This is definitely a test to see if it can be reused for this purpose.
Maria very kindly gifted me the garden hose filter I told her about. I’m glad to see if it will improve the water for the garden. This is a Carbon + KDF-55 filter that claims to filter chlorine, chloramine, and heavy metals.
