Acorn

The compost pile reached about 116°F this morning.

I noticed a small sprout in the lemon tree pot and initially worried it might be coming from below the graft. After digging carefully, I found an acorn instead. At some point it must have fallen into the pot and sprouted. I pulled it out, soaked it briefly, and planted it into a 1-gallon pot. By the end of the day, the green growth had faded quite a bit. We’ll see if it recovers.

I also dug up the potatoes from the plant that died near the dwarf palm. That location was always a gamble and a late decision when planting. Digging around established plants for potatoes isn’t something I want to repeat.
