Pictured above are some of the wildflowers Ivy and I planted a while back.
I finished cutting down the tithonia, composted what made sense, and put the rest in the green bin. I pulled back the straw mulch and added a small amount of Trifecta and a 1-inch layer of Black Kow compost before laying down fresh straw. I’ll likely plant onions there later; there’s already a row of radishes in front.
I added an olla to the middle of the area and another one up the hill near the first mini-row of mustard. I also placed a 5-gallon bucket with tiny holes at the top-left section of the hill, which stays very dry. There were a lot of ants under the woodchips there. Maybe they will appreciate the moisture.
Under the grow light at my desk, I watered three 1-gallon pots with Jack’s 20-20-20. Peppermint and catnip have just barely sprouted; the lavender still hasn’t shown up after 15 days. Fertilizing them now was probably premature. These plants all start slowly.
