A peaceful moment working in the garden, interrupted by a loud cracking, I look over to see this huge branch falling towards me. I was out of range, just.
Later we had someone look at it who was able to point out some dead parts of the tree, and the recommendation was to cut it down. Bryon had mixed feelings on it, understandably. The shade was great, and I know it took a long time for that tree to finally grow, and then it shot up tall. What made me think it was wise to cut it is how tall it was getting in that space. Very close to the fence to the west and then awning to the east.
We are determined to grow more trees – probably on the hill eventually, but first in pots.
[Edit: January 2026. We have a lemon tree in a 5-gallon pot and I’ve planted some Desert Willow tree seeds in a 4-cell tray.]
