What I Do
I am a creative professional. When you hear that term, you probably think of someone like an illustrator or a musician. Well, I don’t draw and I don’t write or perform music. I solve problems, professionally. Specifically, I write HTML & CSS, create WordPress themes, and integrate websites with Adobe’s Business Catalyst.
More About Me
I’m 32-years old, and I was about 18 when I realized that life isn’t worth living without purpose. Without purpose, life is depressing. When I feel purposeless, I’m unmotivated, uninspired and completely bored. Fortunately, with the help of great mentors, I’ve figured out how to have purpose. Two important factors for a life of purpose are autonomy, and the pursuit of mastery.
For me, autonomy means quitting my “day job” 3-years ago and working hard to run a successful business as a problem solver. And the pursuit of mastery means being grateful for, “Great job, Simon. The website looks exactly like the design we gave you to cut up into html and css,” but then going back to the drawing board on my next project for that client, determined to do better.
I want to be better. I want to learn faster. I want to see my customers customers succeed.
I care about value. In a market where the cheapest solution often wins the contract, I choose my clients carefully. I say, “no thanks” as often as it’s said to me. Because this is a huge sea with an abundance of fish. And because with me, working together means creating something beautiful with a lasting value, not getting a quick and merely adequate fix at bargain basement prices.
